Common Quality Problems
Common quality issues in general carpet installation include bulging, skirt wrinkles, and inconsistent color. The primary cause is the uneven elasticity of the brace during installation, and the individual barbs in the wooden strips may not grip properly. If bulging occurs when the carpet is laid out, it should be rolled up and spread flat. During installation, support should be applied evenly. After installation, the wooden spurs should be immediately installed and pressed down with a flat shovel to ensure that all barbs can grip the carpet.
Inconsistent color: Besides the carpet material, this issue is usually caused by moisture or water seepage on the base layer's surface, leading to color changes when the carpet absorbs water. Therefore, the carpet should be protected from water during installation, and work should be avoided in sunny or harmful gas environments. Special attention should be paid to projects requiring quick carpet installation. In cases of overlapping construction, carpets can easily become contaminated by construction materials, leading to permanent damage, such as from artificial marble, mica powder, binder, or polishing powder. Particularly, marble glue used for splicing can cause discoloration if dust settles on the carpet surface; under temperature and humidity, this can result in yellow or orange patches after about 12 hours. The extent of discoloration depends on the composition and concentration of the marble glue. For this reason, it is crucial to maintain cleanliness at the carpet installation site and ensure standardized operations by construction personnel. Once the carpet installation is complete, immediate protection should be implemented, such as covering with plastic film and closing doors promptly to avoid unnecessary quality disputes.
